Welcome to the Fun Zone, I am your teacher Ms.Jazzlyn Parker.I am very excited to meet you. I hope your ready to learn beacause im ready to teach. First let me tell you a little about myself. I am currently a Junior at Edinboro University.I really enjoy this school. The sloging is "Great things happen here" and I can attest to that. Edinboro has helped me become a better person. Thanks to its home like feel and some of the best professors, I am able to learn my desired field and enjoy what I do.
While I'm not learning, I am either working in the student center or sleep. Fun facts about me, I love helping young children succeed, giving to those that are less fortunate than myself, and having fun. I also enjoy learning. I believe no matter how old you are, you can always learn something new.
My Classroom
In my class we will be doing a lot of fun activities. One main activity we will be doing is arts and crafts. Arts and crafts is one of the many ways children can express themselves. As you can see I like taking funny pictures. We will part take in that together in class as well as many other exciting hands on activities. Above is a example of how I would like my 21st century class to look. In my class, I will hang up art work done by students ,inspirational words, funny pictures, and animals. I will also have reminders for the parents, birthday reminders, and a big calendar. Our calendar will be used for many things such as the date, counting how many boys and girls attended class that day, and how many more days are left in that month.
I am teaching at Anna B. Pratt elementary school. Pratt is located at 22nd Susquehanna.I have a total of 18 students in my class. I have 10 girls and 8 boys in my class. My students are the very enthused about learning. They are eager to learn and willing to help others. They participate in everything I do. They're favorite part of the lesson is exercising. It allow them to jump around and act crazy. It also wake them up and get them ready for the day.
A Day In Fun Zone
During our classes we will also go over occupations, how to write our names, different fruits and animals, and how to read a book.We will be using modern day technology like computers, radio's and scanners. Technology has different sources that teaches children how to utilize other options that will help them better there education. Let's talk about a normal day in the fun zone. Soon as you walk in you must sign your child in. The sign in sheet will ask the parents to sign their names, their students name, the date and a contact number. Next to sign in table will be the coat closet. All students must find their names and place their coat in their cubby.
After that they are to come in, seat at the table with their friends and eat breakfast. After breakfast we will sing a good morning. Our good morning song will be song every morning at 9a.m. After singing the good morning song, we will do a morning exercise. The morning exercise will be at least 6 minutes long. We will use a exercise song that's on the fun cd located in the technology area.
Once our exercise is over, we will do attendance. Attendance is to be taken every day after warm up. When doing attendance we must count and write down how many boys and girls attended class today. We must also recite the date, time, and month. After this we will begin with the days lesson. The lesson will go until lunch time.
Before we sit down to eat we must wash our hands and sing the lunch song. The lunch song is basically a way of saying grace but due to religious reasons we don't give thanks to a certain God we praise each other.
After lunch we will clean our mess, brush our teeth and have play time. While in the play center, the students are allowed to do anything. The can play house, cook food, play with blocks, and color. They are also allowed to play with puzzles and paint. I want my students to come up with as many creative designs as possible. At the end of free time we will see who came up with the best designs and who ever the class vote for will get a gold star.
Now, once we're done with giving out our story we will proceed to story time. Story time will be at least 15 minutes. During story time I allow my students to participate with the story and talk to the story. Its like crowd participation. Then the students will either draw me a picture or write what they took from the story. They will do this at the writing center in the corner of the class.
After a long day full of exciting activities I would be tired...wouldn't you? Once story time is over my students are going to take a hour nap. Each student will have their own cot and blanket. We supply all cot's but the parents are to supply their student blankets and pillows. Once our hour is up it will be time to go home but before we go we must eat our snack. After every nap the students will receive a snack and a juice cup. Before leaving parents must sign there students out and take their homework if there is any assigned.I will say my farewells until tomorrow. That's a day in fun zone.
Technology
In my classroom I will be using different kinds of technology to help me get my point across during the lesson. Some types of technology I will be using is
- Radio- I will be using a radio to play the good morning songs, our exercise song, fun songs to listen to while they have free time and during certain stories
- Computers-We will be using educational websites to practice some of the things we learned in our lessons
- Smart Boards- Instead of the regular boards I will be teaching off smart boards so the students can learn to use modern day technology and because these boards can do much more than regular boards and they are less messy
- Headphones- We will need head phones to hear the directions the computers are saying
- Leap Frog- Leap frog is a educational game that helps reinforce the lessons I will be teaching
Assisted Technology
I have a 4 year old student that may have A.D.H.D. He is currently on medications to help her calm down. Her parents only give her medicines twice a day. She H to young to tell if she may or may not have this disability so they treat her as she may. I don't treat her no different from the rest of the students. Although I spend a extra few minutes with her during class, I still try to treat her like a normal student. I don't want him getting dependent on people. I also don't show him to much special attention because he have a aide that attends class with him everyday. Some of the equipment they use is hand held keyboards, laptops, and leap frog. They also use flash cards and pictures.

MY GOAL
My goal is to teach at Anna B. Pratt elementary school. Pratt is located at 22nd Susquehanna. I choose to work there because my mother has been working there from 13 years. She is known as one of the best teachers in the building. Parents respect and love my mother. All the students that was in her class still come back to say hello or thank you. I want that kind of respect. My dream is to be at least half the teacher she is. She does a phenomenal job and hopefully one day she will say the same about me
